time management 101 ;o)  not sure where this is from.  take a big jar and fill it with rocks.  it's full right?  not yet.  fill in the spaces with pebbles.  now it's full?  nope.  add sand.  surely now it's full?  almost.  add water.  now it's full.  what did we just prove?  clue:  not that there's always room for more junk.  imagine if we tried this by adding the water first.  lesson:  big rocks first.

I must say, I was surprised to find this article on this web site!  My impression has been that Dr. Mercola's organization is about promoting health, sometimes by overthrowing "contemporary wisdom" such as that promoted in this article.

The time management tips smack of leading us to overfill our days so we can accomplish more.  Is that the way to total health?  I realize that many people are pressed to the breaking point with their commitments, and when those commitments truly are unavoidable, time management will help.  However, close examination may reveal that we're over-committed because of the priorities we have set in our lives and what "gods" we are chasing (e.g., more money, bigger house, new car every two years, kids constantly on the go with structured activities).

Maybe it's time to consider lessons from the "voluntary simplicity" movement, or mindfulness as an antidote to the recommendations in this article.  My own day is tightly scheduled and that creates a lot of stress for me.  I'm a former project manager undergoing a renaissance in starting to follow these alternative approaches to attaining satisfaction and peace in my life.

After practicing medicine for nearly thirty years it has been my experience that one of the major barriers from people adopting healthy behaviors, especially like exercise, is that they don't have enough time. The tips here help people find that time so they can get healthy.

I followed one of the links from this site and discovered an article entitled "10 Reasons You Should Never Get a Job.
The article changed my life.  I feel much happier, and more in control.  The changes I have made give me more time to exercise, enjoy my family, be creative, and take care of myself.  I appreciate Dr. Mercola's holistic approach to people and health.

I am forever grateful to Dr. Mercola for his devotion to publicizing tips for saving time. More than three years ago I learned from his website about David Allen's book called Getting Things Done.

That book has done more to change and improve my life than anything else I have learned in decades. That previous sentence sounds like hyperbole but it is true.

With an effective system for planning and organizing, life goals that were only dreams can become a reality. As Dr. Mercola says, it could make the difference between exercising or not, between changing your diet or not, between having enough money or not.

Thank you, Dr. Mercola, for introducing me to Getting Things Done, and improving my life enormously!
