8 Steps To Improving Your Enjoyment of Life

From time to time, I share the many health benefits you can enjoy merely by achieving happiness. The variable most people miss on the way to really feeling and being happy in a sustained way, however, is the ability to enjoy it for all it's worth.

Noted for his work on creativity and well-being, Mihaly Csikszentmihaly believes the true enjoyment of life isn't necessarily a cognitive skill and it's not enough to know how to do it. The real trick is to learn how to do it consistently, a process that can be painfully slow for some.

What follow is a sampling of a list of eight components of enjoyment that can make your life fuller and richer than ever before, then access the link below for the whole list.

  • Complete tasks you have the ability to finish.
  • Concentrate on the clear goals of the task.
  • Pay attention to any immediate feedback after the task is completed.
  • Notice that your sense of time after finishing certain tasks, based on your improved ability to enjoy the task at hand, is pleasantly altered.

In learning how to really enjoy life, all the accumulated positives you manifest can boost your body's natural immunities too.

Indeed, the satisfaction of a job well done, is it's own reward.

All the cumulative wealth of the world can never deliver health or happiness (though it MIGHT make it easier to acquire).

If you do not believe this statement, just look around at the walking dead (celebrities, moguls, politicians, etc.) that seem to acquire a great deal of it.

As the country song lyric goes: "There ain't a luggage rack on the hearse..."

Now y'all need to read what Russ has said again. Short simple and very true.  We pass the walking dead in our every day lives and some we know personally. Lets try and spread some true happiness and help those we know in this rut of "gotta have." Kay?

Thanks Russ, that just reminded me of another comment about our celebrity worshipping culture.  It amazes me that if people are so busy these days that they have to eat fast food, then why do people have so much time to spend on the internet seeking celebrity gossip, watching entertainment gossip shows or reading ridiculous gossip magazines.  If people spent their time and money on themselves reading about nutrition or health then maybe our society would not be as sick as it is.  All it takes is for someone to be diagnosed with cancer and then all of the sudden celebrity watching would be put on the back burner.  I want people to stop the  insanity now, don't wait for your life to be compromised by a health trajedy before spending some time on your most important investment: yourself!

Right on Russ  ................  Wealth, and the acquisition of material "things" is not a predictor of true Happiness.   Some of the most giving people I know, emotionally and otherwise are those with the least amount of material possessions ...............  Their happiness comes from healthy relationships, and a definite positive link between mind, body and spirit.

Materialism, or an accumulation of wealth on any level plays no real part   ...

All of the above seem true enough.  Another idea that I would like to bring to the table is simplification.  Have you noticed how people nowadays have gargages full of stuff.  Every cupboard in their house is stuffed to the brim.  They even own a storage unit.  I would just like to remind people that by simplifying your life the path to happiness is alot easier.  Maybe because it is not so cluttered.  We all know that materialism is rampant these days.  But, we really can exist much more peacefully  in a simple environment that is not cluttered with stuff.  Stay away from StuffMart as the VeggieTales character say :)  Make it a happy day, de-clutter your environment and ask yourself, do I really need all this stuff to be happy or does all this stuff make me confused?  You will experience a huge amount of freedom when you don't have to worry about all this stuff.  I say simplify, simplify, simplify!   You might as well get used to it, because there is only one thing we can take with us, our soul!    That is my 2 cents...anyways.
