Are You Overdosing on Caffeine With Energy Drinks?

Based on some serious reports, attorneys are warning food manufacturers to think twice before automatically adding caffeine to their mix of health-harming processed foods and drinks. Even though the FDA has taken little interest in regulating it, they may do so very soon, based on reports of caffeine intoxication that are growing by the day.

According to one review of records, a regional poison center in Chicago reported 265 cases of caffeine intoxication, with almost 12 percent of them requiring hospitalization (20 patients were admitted to an ICU). Because the average age of patients treated for caffeine poisoning was 21, I'm not surprised to learn energy drinks were among the primary culprits.

California toxicologists have also seen problems, particularly among patients who consumed the caffeinated energy drink Redline, promoted by its makers as a freaky scientific breakthrough and the first physique-transforming matrix to coax your body to burn fat through the shivering response. Unbelievable...

In the meantime, unfortunately, one method manufacturers can use to get around any future caffeine restrictions that may come from the FDA: Obtaining a generally regarded as safe (GRAS) opinion from a "qualified" expert.

In addition to the caffeine overload, it's important to stay far away from energy drinks and soft drinks spiked with sugars that raise your insulin levels, contributing to a host of diseases and accelerating aging.

Buyer Beware!  Are they still teaching that in schools? Once again, the addictive nature of humans is being capitalized on by these ridiculous drinks.  That instant gratification will cost you dearly in the long run.  Vote with your dollars and persuade anyone you know that these drinks will destroy your health.  I have no faith in the FDA to regulate these drinks.

These drinks are a scam to get people to keep coming back. Americans are so tired, that they actually need this stuff to live. When you eat sugar, gluten, etc your body releases opiates. Then when you stop drinking this crap, you body craves it and you need more.

Sugar inhibits the immune system and we wonder why America is so ill?

My recommendations:
1. Water is the only thing our body was designed to drink
2. If it has an ingredient that you cannot pronounce, don't drink it
3. If it is the same color as a highlighter, don't drink it
4. If it was not here 10K years ago, don't drink it

Whether Redline, or Red BULL, you can be assured in combination with alcohol consumption (due to caffeine being a neuro stimulant and alcohol a blood depressant) you have a much higher probability with these caffeine concoctions to FLATLINE....not speculation, several dozen wrongful DEATH law suits globally have been filed on this very issue.

The cocktails out there now with both booze and caffeine in them, are the current equivalent to Jonestown poison laced Kool-Aid.

Also any health compromised person (pregnant, infant, child, senior, on prescription cardio medications, or suffering from cardio vascular disease, obese, hypoglycemic, diabetics, or in combination with other diet regiments, etc.) SHOULD NOT be consuming such products!!!

By the way, these caffeine beverage marketers have known this all along, were warned about it, and have done nothing until the Feds helped (through lobbying) in trying to limit their liability from being sued, by "voluntarily" posting warning labels, just like tobacco or alcohol products.

Argumentation that caffeine like drinks give you 'wings' 'energy' or kinesiological benefit, are FALSE.

It is about time that the FDA is doing what it is supposed to do. It does need to work harder for the people not against the people;seems to work for the big pharma and drugs and food that hurt people like Equal and Splenda.

Wake up people and stop buying that crap!!!!!

While I have no idea why, I do know that even very small amounts of xylitol make both my husband and I horribly dizzy... To the point where I won't even get behind the wheel of a car and drive. Sometimes it's followed by an odd sort of headache that usually doesn't go away until I've taken a nap. I can't use it.

I have received information that in Brazil drinking Coca Cola after consuming mentol sweets(candies?) it caused death! Do you or someone else have information about this and is it known in USA? I am in Europe and received this information on email from a gementleman who could not get confirmation of this information.Thank you . Nina Ingris
