Did You Know How You Can be Cheated When You Buy Chicken?

In an ideal world, when you buy chicken labeled “100% Natural,” you’d expect it to be 100% natural chicken. However, about 30 percent of all fresh chickens sold in our supermarkets are pumped and plumped with as much as fifteen percent salt water; potential cancer-producing carrageenan, and other additives. This equates to consumers paying about $2 billion per year for salt water!

To add some extra zing to your wounded wallet, these chickens also contain about 800 percent more sodium per serving than expected.

That said, paying chicken prices for salt water and additives is yet another insult to hardworking, health conscious Americans. I recommend sticking with 100 percent organic, free-range chicken as your source of protein and forego the supermarket variety entirely.

Unfortunately, unscrupulous practices abound, and Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-CA) and Rep. Charles Pickering (R-MS) had the good sense to hold a press conference to bring the issue into the limelight.

They’re launching a bipartisan congressional effort to make the USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) see the light and change its policies on the use of “Natural” on food labels, to stop this type of rip-off through deception-by-omission.

In addition MANY refined sugars (corn dextrose, corn glucose, cane of beet sugar, HFCS, crystalline corn refined fructose, hydrolyzed inulin fructose), salts, nitrites, nitrates, corn maltodextrin, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, artificial colors or flavorings, potassium chloride, gums, modified starches, binders, colloids, MSG, spices, hydrogenated fractionated or trans fats or oils, polyols, glycerin/glycerol, high intensity sweeteners, corn syrup, enzymes, phosphates, yeast, mono and id glycerides, acids, alkalines, dairy powders, casinates, fiber, cellulose, silicates, are DAILY being used in these highly processed roasters, poultry, beef, lamb, pork, veal, etc.

Your way to combat this?  Vote with your wallet and do not purchase or consume these harmful products, because the politicians cannot, and will not, really control this, or enforce phony legislation they claim they are seeking, to then be IGNORED by FDA or USDA, or the huge processed food industry, that really controls this, through lobbying efforts.

Readers,
If the meat and poultry is not locally raised, free-range, hormone-free, and pesticide-free, not to mention from humanely raised and slaughtered animals, it does not go in my mouth.

Yes, I pay much more for my animal protein that what one pays in the mainstream supermarkets, but I have a very valid rationale for this. I figure that I will save money in the long-run on medical bills. Oh yeah, since I survived a pancreas cancer, eating clean organic meat is absolutely essential for my continued survival on this planet for as many more years as I have left. Quality food gets the priority in my budget. I just have eliminated other expenditures that are not as important to me.

Let us not forget the irradiation of meat and the artificial coloring of beef, as well as the spraying of a virus on meat too.
