Good Bacteria Boost The Immune Systems of Hospital Patients

Probiotics are so useful in helping autistic children concentrate better and office workers stay healthy, Canadian researchers tested their beneficial effect on 28 intensive care patients suffering from multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS).

Testing the benefits of probiotics certainly makes sense, considering a breakdown of gut barrier function and immune dysfunction are hallmarks of the onset of MODS. Scientists compared the performance of probiotics to a placebo and a substitute for seven days.

Although researchers claimed MODS scores weren't significantly affected, viable probiotics greatly enhanced the immunity of the patients who received them versus a placebo or substitute. And, since the immune system is very closely tied to your gut flora, it's no surprise the health of patients improved quickly.

The only problem with probiotics is finding a good product, since there are so many bad ones on the market. Your best option: Find a local expert at your neighborhood health food store to help you make the best choice. If you can't find one, however, you may want to consider Rebalanced Health Probiotics, available in my Web store.

I agree with Josh, the amount of GI tract toxicity of bad bacteria in the average American is horrific.

This comes DIRECTLY form consuming dumb-downed and nutritionally void calories in our highly processed food chain.

The solution(s)?  Check out Dr. Mercola's recommendations, but also consume REAL, wholesome, fresh, nutrient rich, natural food or beverages, high in real fiber, anti oxidants, vitamins, minerals, and preventative antioxidants, etc.

From my own experience, it can also be caused by extreme stress and devastating grief.

Even years before taking the Metabolic Typing Test, I cooked all foods from scratch, used only organic food, grass fed meat & raw dairy.  I used no microwave, no chemicals and cooked in glass or enameled cast iron.

Don’t forget about eating fermented foods, such as sauerkraut and kefir.

It is estimated that our paleolithic ancestors had 1 million times the bacterial count as we do. This was due to their lack of cooking and eating foods straight from the earth.

Their diet was high in grass-fed-meats, nuts, plant matter, fruits and berries. In addition they only drank water; not soda, coffee, tang, etc. They did not suffer from they myriad of chronic ills that affects society today.

Almost every American has had antibiotics at some time in their lives which has killed the normal flora. One of the first things I do it put my patients on a really good probiotic such as Mega Probiotic to help re-establish the normal flora of the intestines.

I'm glad that Americans are finally learning the importance of probiotics and how they can improve ones health.

How about "Primal Defense" with soil based organisms?
