Merck's HPV Lobbying May be Coming to Your State

Unfortunately, Texas isn't the only state considering making the needless Merck human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine Gardasil a requirement for young teenage women, according to news reports.

Merck, maker of the notorious Vioxx, has been throwing money around the country through Women in Government, a lobbying group targeting female state legislators. The latest goal: Pushing the passage of HPV requirements in at least 18 states.

Although Merck openly admits its lobbying ties with Women in Government, the mega-drugmaker won't say how much money they're funneling through the non-profit, but here's a possible measuring stick: With Merck doubling its spending on lobbying, just in Texas, to some $250,000, multiply that by 18 and you'll get almost $5 million.

Spending $5 million (or some $12.5 million if you're considering the whole country) is mere chump change compared to the $1 BILLION Merck could earn annually from Gardasil, says one drug industry analyst.

Just a reminder, more than 6 million women contract HPV annually, but a woman's immune system is often strong enough to clear up this infection on its own and it's virtually 100 percent avoidable without a vaccine.

If I had a daughter the age they require for the vaccine, I would move or home school my child.  There is absolutely no way (over my dead body) I would allow anyone to inject her with this poison.

I am spreading the word that School Districts cannot impose their belief onto any parents.  You do NOT have to have your children vaccinated in order to go to a public school!  On the back of your registration form, or some schools have a separate form you check the box that vaccinations are against your religious beliefs.  They have to notify you if there is an outbreak at the school and you may be required to have your child on independent study until the outbreak is over.  This has been in place for years.  I have been a registrar for years.

I agree 100%. I will pull my daughter out of school if they try to force them to get that poison.

I have known for many years that vaccines were the greatest scourge to ever hit the planet. Vaccinating your children is a physiological curse bringing about arthritis, cancer, brain damage, and a host of sufferings. I call them, the work of the Devil.  So when 25 years ago the West Virginia authorities threatened to take our children because we were unfit parents who did not vaccinate, we packed up our house and moved to Virginia where the only document necessary to avoid vaccines is to sign a waiver. By the way, West Virginia and Mississippi are the only two states where there are virtually no means for exemption.

Besides that, what right does our government have to ASSUME that young women will be immoral, which is the ONLY way to contract HPV!  Thanks for the vote of confidence!
