Soft Drinks: Disease in a Can
I devote so much attention to the perils of consuming soft drinks -- benzene poisoning being the latest concern -- you probably need to be reminded from time to time about the horrible chemical composition of liquid candy. That's the gist of this interesting piece from the library of Mindconnection.

The article goes beyond the obvious dangers of osteoporosis and diabetes to review a few of the many cancer-causing effects of soft drinks, particularly connected to esophageal cancer.

You'll also enjoy reviewing the side-by-side lists that compare all the problems associated with soft drinks and the benefits of drinking clean fresh water.

I forgot to mention, when I was growing up soda pop was considered a treat. It seems that now people see it as a normal drink, and that is from morning till night.

I remember when a soda came in a 6 oz. bottle. Now they sell it in 64 oz. cups, and all you can drink sodas at resturants. The stuff doesn't even taste good anymore.

I am not a soda drinker, but my husband is.  I have 2 small children that will soon know what a soda is.  I cannot convince my husband that soda is bad for you.  I certainly cannot  make him not give it to the kiddos, but how can I get him on board with my way of healthy thinking???

Does your husband need to lose a few pounds? When my husband gave up soda he lost 20 pounds, his bursitis disappeared and his IBS improved tremendously.
It's funny when he runs into people he hasn't seen in awhile because they always exclaim "My god! You must have lost 60 pounds!" So instead of being pleased, he's a little insulted that they thought he looked that fat.
I would try to find some short, sweet facts you could show him about the health effects of drinking soda, particularly for children. If you search this site, I'm sure you'll find them pretty quick.
