Warning Labels May be Placed on Caffeinated Drinks

In California, caffeinated beverages such as sodas and energy drinks may soon require health warning labels.

California law mandates an update to the list of harmful chemicals each year, and also orders the labeling of chemicals identified as potentially dangerous

A study on the effects of caffeine on pregnant woman showed evidence that state toxicologists are saying are "overwhelming," with adverse outcomes including spontaneous abortions, decreased fetal growth and decreased birth weight.

If labels are issued, they would only be placed on artificially-caffeinated drinks, and not those which contain caffeine naturally, such as coffee, tea, and chocolate.

So, you put a warning label on the product in case someone has a miscarriage or dies - that way, you can't be sued....................

I am always surprised when the amount of caffeine is not on a label.  Did you know that diet soda pops generally have more caffeine than regular soda?
Pepsi-Cola= 36mg caffeine (12oz can)
Mountain Dew= 55mg
Pepsi One= 56mg

Mountain Dew + Midol = the best hangover cure you'll ever try. Oh, and a Snickers.

Samurai, I was not aware that diet soft drinks had more caffeine than regular.  I know when I worked nights I would drink a Mountain Dew, because I knew it had the highest amount of caffeine of regular soft drinks and I need something to help me stay awake.  I could not stand the taste of diet soft drinks.
