Why Would the FDA Approve a Less Effective Contraceptive?

Considering all the problems associated with existing drug-based forms of birth control, why would anybody consider taking a less effective kind, yet that's exactly what FDA advisers recommended this week.

An advisory panel voted against setting a standard on how often future drug-based contraceptives would have to fail in order to deny them federal approval, because those less-effective drugs might offer some other benefit, like reducing a woman's risk of blood clots or a stroke.

Apparently, less effective contraceptives have already made their way into the American drug pipeline, even though the FDA's own staff remains divided over whether a mandatory failure rate should be established.

And some advisory panel members, obviously wary about making a decision, claim the market -- controlled largely by the drug-addicted practitioners of conventional medicine -- will set the standard, albeit an informal one.

Although they're convenient and amazingly effective, birth control drugs are very dangerous and you should avoid them like the plague. That's especially true because there are plenty of safer alternatives available, none of which involve taking a drug.

In the 1960’s, Dr. Ellen Grant ran trials of many different doses of birth control pills. As she writes in her book, Sexual Chemistry, in these early Pill trials 6 percent breakthrough bleeding (indicating ovulation) was considered to be the safe contraceptive limit, and some of the early Pills that were rejected in the 1960’s for poor pregnancy protection are prescribed today in slightly higher or even lower doses. At least one brand of 20 mcg birth control pill prescribed today has 30 percent breakthrough bleeding, far more than 6 percent. This indicates that there have been many unplanned pregnancies and, in fact, over 50 % unplanned pregnancies are due to contraceptive failure! But now there is abortion to take care of many of these pregnancies, as well as the birth defects, so this problem is not well-known.

Dr. Mercola is one the very few doctors willing to tell the truth about birth control pills. I found this out while researching this subject for my teenage daughter. This is how I discovered this site and I want to thank him very sincerely-you truly may have saved my daughter’s life!

Dr. Mercola, thank you for your last paragraph! As a DO, I hope you are familiar with NaPro Technology and the Creighton Model of Fertility Care. It's amazing stuff and far, far from the world of harmful fertility and anti-fertility treatments/drugs.

A plane with 100 seats on it, piloted by FDA career Big Pharamceutical drug approval officials takes off.

All but two of the seats are filled, with additional FDA drug review panel scientists, buraeucrats, lawyers and Congressional and legislative liasons.

The plane crashes and all are prounced DEAD at the impact crater.

What does one call this?

A tragedy the last 2 seats were not filled from the FDA payroll.

If conventional medicine will set the standards, you know they will be low.  They have to have something to put money in their pocket book.
