Workouts Sculpt Heart As Well As Muscles

Exercise can cause structural changes in the heart -- and the changes can vary depending on the type of exercise.

Researchers found that endurance athletes showed an increase in the size of both their left and right ventricles after 90 days of team training. However, athletes who only did strength training had excessive growth in their left ventricles, but no change at all in their right ventricle size.

In addition, the ability of the left ventricle to fully relax between beats was enhanced in the endurance athletes, but it worsened in the strength trainers.

It is possible that this could point the way towards tailored recommendations for rehabilitation and recreational exercise for people with heart problems.

Combination of both Anerobic and "some" Strength training works best, with more emphasis on Anerobic, or Interval training, you have to create that oxygen debt, recover and repeat according to your fitness level ,start of slow and increase the intensity, exercise "in waves" like the normal heart rhythm (waves) and no more than 20 mins tops then, decreasing the time while increasing the resistance as you progress...

Al sears pace program does exactly that and has had tremendous success, so much even the US Air force is now using it.....

ui bought the pace program through Mercola's reccomendation almost a year ago now, and must say I am very impressed, and use his type of training exclusively now as my form of training.

One question remains, for those of us who are very active, 'low carb' diets seem to fail.  I guess than means we should switch to 'carbohydrate type' diet?  Also, how are we supposed to get all these carbs =]  Veggies just dont cut it for me it seems, i've been eating some pasta lately, i know its a no-no!

Yeah, I  did buy the pace too but did not really lose any weight, anyway I'm not that overweight (160 cm and 55 kg) and also, I think my problem is eating too much carbs (working on that...). I did one of his running routines for almost a year but now decided to try resistance training, the type recommended by those Ryan Lee-Rob Poulos etc group of people and I run to the gym and back in sprints. I think that's a good combination :)

Yes, I love interval training.  I sprint up the hills when I run my two
miles.  Just do that three times each track practice, and you feel
great afterwards.  So i get really tired, then The jogging down the
hill and running on the flats makes the blood flow enough to rejuvenate
me.
